William Bayne "Sarge" Hicks, 85, of Indiana died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Mountain View Specialty Care Center, Greensburg, due to a lengthy illness. The son of Vesta Craig and Lawrence Hicks was born Jan. 5 1920, in Indiana. Mr. Hicks lived most of his life in Indiana, except for a time in the U.S. Air Force, during World War II overseas (1942-1945). Prior to his retirement, he worked for 20 years in the maintenance and custodial department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Student Co-Operative Association.
Surviving are two sisters: Erma Romasco, Mentor, Ohio, and lona Norton, Wakefield, Mass; four daughters: Florence Ann Smith and husband Gary, Reynoldsviile, Lois Jean, Sandra arid Mary ; one son, William L. Hicks and fiance Pamela; six grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice E. Ray Hicks; four brothers: Mervin, Leon, Lloyd and Laird; and a sister, Velma Saba.
