Kittie was known as Kittie throughout most of her life. It is a nickname for Catherine and I always assumed that was why she was called Kittie. This name is used for her in the 1920 Federal Census when she was approximately 4 years of age so she was known as Kittie from an early age.

Her daddy, Seth Boles Sr., in his account of his family, written for the 'Outline History of The Boles Family' book by his brother, Judge Alfred Boles, and published following Judge Boles death, lists his children Kittie and her twin, John Keith as John Keith and Catherine Boles. Her uncle, Judge Boles, later uses the names John Keith and Catherine when describing their school attendance.

Since she is known exclusively as Kittie by her family and friends, this name will be used for her memorial.

Kittie Baker

Kittie Boles Baker of Russellville died Saturday, Nov. 10 at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Kittie, a native of Dardanelle, moved to Russellville ater her marriage to J. Rankin Baker in 1946, where they raised two sons, John R. Baker, Jr. who retired from the USAF in 2005 and currently lives in Dardanelle, and Jay Keith Baker, a college professor in Dallas.

Kittie's first job was as Dr. Roy Millard's office manager in his Dardanelle office before he moved his practice to Russellville. During WWII, while two of her brothers and her future husband fought overseas, she worked at an ammunition production factory near Texarkana. She enjoyed a lifelong love of music and was the organist at the Central Presbyterian Church for several years and was active in local music groups. For many years, she was an active supporter of local schools, sports, band and scout activities.

Preceded in death by her husband, she is survived by her son John and daughter-in-law Judi, son Keith and daughter-in-law Pam; four grandchildren, Catherine, John, Amanda and Hayden; and two great-grandchildren, Sofiya and Max.

She blessed our lives every single day and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private family graveside service will be conducted at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brian Brock presiding.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at Humphrey Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 400 West Main St. Russellville, AR 72801. Online obituary and guestbook may be viewed at www.humphreyfuneral.com.
