Lillian Gordy Carter (1898-1983), mother of Jimmy Carter was also the daughter of Mary Ida Nicholson Gordy (1871-1951), wife of James Jackson Gordy (1863-1948).

Mary Ida Nicholson Gordy's mother was Mrs Elizabeth Dawson John ( 10 Sept 1836- 9 Dec. 1909. Mrs. Elizabeth Dawson John Nicholson was first married to Dr. Daniel L. Dawson, CSA physician. N.N. Nicholson and Elizabeth Nicholson had 3 children:

Mary Ida Nicholson (1971-1951,

Ira Brady Nicholson (1872-?) and

Sallie Estell ( 1875-1895).
