Richard Zufelt
SALINA - Richard Valentine Zufelt, 94, died Dec. 19, 1977 at his home in San Jose, Calif. Born Nov. 25. 1883, Glenwood, to Richard S. and Mary Acord Zufelt. Married Sarah Elizabeth Robinson, Sept. 24, 1908, Richfield, solemnized Manti Temple. She died July 25. 1973.

Farmer, rancher in Wayne County, and Burrville, later settled and farmed in Vermillion, where he was active in the LDS church, serving as Sunday School superintendent and other offices. In the 1940s he left the valley and moved to California where he was prominent in training and raising throughbred racing horses.

Survivors, sons, daughters: Mrs. Brooks (Mary) Collings, Oak Harbor, wash.; Mrs. Marlin (Nelda) Sorensen, Salina; Mrs. Milo (Madge) Knight, Maryland; Mrs. Walt (Marjorie) Chelonis, San Jose, Ca.; Mrs. Walter (Peggy Lou) Susanj, Kent, Wash.; Don, Phoenix, Ariz., Roger, Pleasanton, Calif.; Douglas, Palo Alto. Calif.; Gary, Carmichael, Calif.; sisters, LaPrial Broadbrent, New York; Fern Anderson, Concord, Calif.; 34 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.

Graveside services were held Dec. 21, Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave., San Jose, by Bishop of the San Jose Third Ward.
