Frederick H Adkins, 70, of Springfield died 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in St. Johns Hospital, Springfield.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, Springfield, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
Born in Bement, he was a son of Charles Adkins, former congressman and speaker of the Illinois House from Decatur. He married Doris Welch.
Surviving are his wife; son, Charles of Belmont, Mass.; brother, Roy of Upper Montclair, N.J.; sisters, Mrs. Ella Campbell of Monticello; Mrs. Martha Wallbaum of Decatur; Mrs. Mary Rigan of Bloomington; two grandchildren.
