COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY - 05/13/2004
George Eugene Herbig, Sr., 78, of Louisville died at his home on Tuesday, May 11, 2004. He was retired from W. M. Cissell Manufacturing Co. where he was a production controller for 44-1/2 years. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his son, George E. Herbig, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Ora Herbig; a daughter, Madeleine St. Clair; son, Bill Herbig and daughter-in-law Susie; a brother, Russell Herbig and his wife, Sis; three sisters, Mitzie Middleton, Jeanie Kimberger and Viola Mathis; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Louisville.
