HERBIG, RUSSELL S., SR., 82, of Louisville, died Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange, Kentucky.

He was a retired employee of General Electric where he had been for 29 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington. He was a member of American Legion Post 200 and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary "Sis" Herbig.

He is survived by two sons, three daughters, one sister, two half-sisters, 12 grand children and 17 great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 1020 East Burnett Avenue, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Bosse Funeral Home, Barret and Ellison Avenues.
