Mrs. Helen Hargitt Thevenow, 72, 903 W. Second St., died Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at King's Daughters' Hospital.

She was a native of Ashbury, N. J. She was the wife of Tommy Thevenow, former major league baseball player with the St. Louis Cardinals, who die din 1957. She was a retired teacher and had taught at E. O. Muncie School. She attended DePauw University and graduated from Indiana University. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist church, the AAUW, Delta, Kappa, Gamma, National Retired Teachers Association, Sigma Delta Chi and the Madison Art Club, and several other organizations.

She is survived by two sons: Thomas, Los Angeles, Calif., and Victor, Madison; two daughters: Mrs. Mary Jane Hayden, Glendora, Calif.; and Mrs. Sarah Ball, Bedford, Ky.; one brother; Paul Hargitt, Florida; and one sister, Mrs. Molly Hobson, Sarasota, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 p.m. at Lytle Mortuary.
