Grimes, Ruth #2 (16 JAN 1869 - 13 SEP 1956)
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock from the Congregational Church at Owen for Mrs. Nick Grimes, 87, who passed away at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, Wis., Thursday morning, Sept. 13, 1956. Rev. Ralph Claybaugh officiated with burial at Riverside Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Oscar Parkinson, Joseph Hiebsch, Clarence Strohkirch, Julius Johnson, Jack Parker and Elmer Swanson. In charge of flowers were Mesdames Clarence Strohkirch, William Wollum, Joseph Hiebsch, Art Wolfram and Oscar Parkinson.
Ruth Tuttle Grimes was born Jan. 16, 1869, at Wrightstown, Wis. When a young lady she and her parents moved to Glenwood City. On March 27, 1891, she married Nick Grimes of Emerald, Wis. They later moved to Clear Lake where they lived until 1924, when they moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) where she has since resided.
Mrs. Grimes was a member of the Congregational Church and a charter member of the Owen Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. An Eastern Star service was held at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home Friday evening.
She is survived by two sons, Burleigh of Trenton, Mo., Shurleigh of Owen, two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Her husband and one daughter preceded her in death, both in 1941. Also 12 sisters and brothers and two half-brothers.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Burleigh Grimes, Trenton, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Grimes, Mrs. Charles Teas, Harvey, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Royce Grimes, Hopkins, Minn.; Mrs. Julius Johnson, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Lang, Wabeno; Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Goodspeed, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Goodspeed, Mr. Raymond Peirson, Mr. Elwin Church, Clear Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Swanson, Deer Park; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carter, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ronnigan and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Vick, River Falls, Wis.
