Lucy Caroline Allen Hitchcock was the daughter of famed Revolutionary War Hero Ethan Allen. She was the wife of Judge Samuel Hitchcok whom she married on May 26, 1789 in Montplier, Vermont at the age of 21. This union produced six children:
Loraine Allen Born June 11, 1790
Henry Born Sept.11, 1791
Mary Ann Born June 3, 1796
Ethan Allen Born May 18, 1798
Pamela Caroline Born May 20, 1805
Samuel Born 1808

Her son Henry assumed responsibility for the welfare of the family following the death of his father. This would lead the family to Mobile, Alabama where young Henry would grow in wealth and fame. Caroline returned to Burlington in 1834 where she died at the age of 74.

There is no evidence she was born in Massachusetts, and her father and mother were both born in Woodbury, Litchfield County, Connecticut. In 1770, her family moved to Bennington, Vermont and there remained in that state until his death.
