Daughter of Rufus E. Easton and Alby Abial Smith, Johanna Easton was barely 17 when she married Dr. Pryor Quarles, 04 Sep 1817, in St. Louis, MO. Just four years later, she was a widow with two young daughters, Martha and Mary. The widow Johanna Quarles nee Easton married widower Henry Sheffie Geyer 26 Apr 1831. The first wife of Henry Geyer was Clarissa Betsy nee Starr, a cousin of Johanna.
According to information of Geyer descendant, Tom Whittall, the Geyer cemetery lot was purchased by Henry Geyer in December of 1858 prior to Mr. Geyer's death in March 1859. Mr. Geyer's first and second wives, Clarissa and Johanna, were initially buried in Christ Church Cemetery. Their remains were reinterred to the Geyer plot sometime after the 1858 purchase.
Correspondence and love letters of Henry Geyer and Johanna (Easton) Quarles circa 1830 are in collection of the Western Historical Manuscript Collection - Columbia, University of Missouri, State Historical Society of Missouri. Copies of a few of those letters are in possession of Jane Denny.

Johanna Geyer shares a resting place with her two daughters by a first marriage, Martha L. Quarles and Mary (Quarles) Tunstall, and her son by the second marriage to Henry Sheffie Geyer, Edward Tracy Geyer. Another son, Henry Pryor Geyer, was born circa 1932 to the Henry S. Geyer- Johanna (Easton) Quarles marriage.
