William "Torrence" "Terry" Callahan born May 4, 1943, passed unexpectedly on March 8, 2008 at his home in Mobile, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Leon Callahan, and his mother, Fan Fisher Callahan, and nephews, Adam Richard Dunnavant, Cameron Callahan, Charles David Smitherman, and Paul Kenneth Dunnavant. Terry is survived by three children, Sheri Dianne Callahan, William "Will" Torrence Callahan, Jr., and Daniel Leon Callahan; grandchildren Cheyenne "Bear" Callahan McCollum, Jonah Daniel Callahan, and Alex Chandler Callahan; three brothers, Herbert (Karen) Leon "Sonny" Callahan, George (Betty) Michael Callahan, and Charles Herman Callahan; five sisters, Patricia (James) Colleen Dempster, Madeline Lucille Martin, Margaret Ann (Don) Athey, Mary Jane (Leonard) Emmick, and Rose Marie "Rosie" Callahan; numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; many friends, especially Barbara Neece and Jimmy Alexander. Visitation and Rosary were held at Serenity Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, March 13, 2008 with a graveside service following at Pine Crest Cemetery. Pall bearers included Daniel Callahan, Brandon Stone, Steve Smitherman, Paul "Sonny" Smitherman, Mike Callahan, Jr. and Greg Callahan; honorary bearers were Charles Keith Dunnavant and William Joseph Smitherman and Jimmy Alexander. Terry was given a full military funeral by the Honor Guard of American Legion Post 250, with the flag presented to his children. The family extends its thanks to the many, many friends and relatives who have loved Terry and stood with him in all times of joy and sorrow.
