He enjoyed summers at the family beach cottage in Plum Island, listening to the big band sounds at the Rowley Dance Hall, playing cards and frequenting Rockingham Park to watch the races, thus deemed Race Track Louie. He bought all his cars at Bill Deluca Chevrolet and was chosen to have his face adorn the cover of their yearly calendar. Once he took a nap in the back seat of a showroom car much to the astonishment of potential buyers. Louis was a frugal man, he fancied a bargain or discount.
Louis was a gentlemen, he was generous and kindhearted. He enjoyed spending time traveling to Florida with his wife, and vacationing to Maine with his children and grandchildren. Though he had to endure life-ending challenges he maintained a graceful, appreciative attitude for every little kindness given him.
He is predeceased by his loving wife June whom he shared 68 years of marriage, his elder son Robert, and his dear sister Norma Grise.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Wingate staff and Merrimack Valley Hospice Staff. A special thank you to his best friend and angel, Denise Zeilinski for her compassion and devotion to Louis for which the family is eternally grateful.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, June 4, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, with a funeral service to follow. At the request of the family, burial in Linwood Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Emmaus, Inc., P.O. Box 568, Haverhill, MA 01831. To share a memory or for more information, please visit www.farmerfuneralhomes.com.
