Susan Bennett Winters, educator and musician, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 1992.

Born May 5, 1937 to Harold H. and Emily Higgs Bennett.She is survived by her husband, Dr. Nathan B. Winters; daughters, Jana (Mrs. Jeff Parkin); Emily and Holly; sons, Ben and Cort; and foster daughter Lori (Mrs. Alan Luna); grandsons, Joshua Bennett Parkin and Brandon Luna. Also survived by father, Harold H. Bennett; and in-laws, Mr.& Mrs. N. Blaine Winters; brothers, John, Michael, Peter and Stephen Bennett; and sisters, Elen (Mrs. Dean Belnap); Rose (Mrs. Richard Jenkins); and Ann (Mrs. David Lowden). A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as a consultant to the Sunday School and Young Women's General Boards, and served in many other ward and stake callings.

Susan graduated from the University of Utah in 1958 with a degree in choral music conducting and was valedictorian of her class. She taught music at both South Davis Jr. High School and East High School (under the tutelage of Lorraine Bowman). She was musical director on the television series "47 Happiness Way."

An active member and President of Mu Phi Epsilon (honorary music society) and active in Mortar Board, later serving as an advisor. She was a pianist and instructor in the Suzuki method, combining with it her own conceptual system for a unique curriculum and had an unusual ability to lift and inspire young people.

She used her talents to help raise the standard of musical excellence in her church and community. Susan was a great listener and never did anything with herself in mind. She loves daisies, gentle music, and her family.

Funeral services Wednesday, February 5th, 12 noon, at the Monument Park 2nd Ward, 2000 East Michigan Avenue (1005 South). Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Tuesday evening 6:30 - 8 p.m., and at the Ward on Wednesday, 10 - 11:30 a.m.

Burial will be at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
