Mario J. Adorante, 52, of Vandergrift, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, Harrison, after a two-month illness and where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was born Oct. 19, 1953, in Vandergrift to the late Diodato "Teddy" and Martha Jean MacCagno Adorante and lived in Vandergrift all of his life. Mr. Adorante was a foreman for Conrail/Norfolk-Southern who retired in 2003 after 30 years of service and where he was known affectionately as "Doc." He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift, and the Railroad Workers Union; played in various bands throughout the region, including the Velaires, Magic and the Elmonics; loved growing and caring for plants, and enjoyed building and remodeling. Husband of five years of Diane Libitzer Adorante. Father of Mario M. and Miranda Adorante, of Ford City, and Alayna Angiulli and Andrew, Alicia and April Libitzer, of Vandergrift. Grandfather of Jonathan Dre Wolfe. Bother of Anita M. (Ken) Artman and Terri L. (Rich) Bryan, of Vandergrift, and Celia J. (Bill Jr.) Adams, of Du Bois. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday in the GERALD J. MEDICE FUNERAL HOME, 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Chad Ficorilli, O.S.B., officiating. Entombment in the Greenwood Memorial Park mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
