Author, Historian. Well known for his best-selling prose on the American West. Born in Ohio, he settled in Colorado Springs after being diagnosed with tuberculosis in 1941. His books include "Money Mountain", about the history of Cripple Creek's rich days as a gold mining camp; "Massacre, The Tragedy at White River", about the Meeker Massacre; "Newport in the Rockies: The Life and Good Times of Colorado Springs"; and, "So Vast, So Beautiful a Land", about the Louisiana Purchase.
