Catherine "Kate" Lucas Watson was born in Gateshead, Durham, England. She was the daughter of Peter Lucas (1825-1883) and Jane Ellison Lucas (1827-1906). Her father worked in the fire brick manufacturing business. She was the 2nd oldest of at 11 known children.
Kate married Thomas Watson in 1878. They eventually moved to Liverpool where Tom Watson very successfully managed the Liverpool Football team. Together they had the following children:
-Ralph Lucas Watson (1879-1953)
-Mary Ethel Watson Jensen (1884-1948)
-Thomas Oscar Watson (1890-1961)
-Elizabeth Winnifred Watson Woolridge (1892-1982)
All of their children emigrated to the USA except Ralph.
Kate is buried with her husband Tom, and son Ralph in Anfield Cemetery. A headstone was added to their grave in 2015, courtesy of the Liverpool Football Club and the Sunderland AFC.
