Lestock Peach Wilson DesBrisay, one of
the first settlers in Richibucto and the outstanding figure in its business life
in the early 50's was of Huguenot descent. He was born on May 14, 1820, a son of
Theophilus DesBrisay, who resided at Chatham, N.B., and as a naval officer had
oversight of the coast from Maine to Labrador. His mother was Lucy Wright,
daughter of Hon. Thomas Wright, Surveyor-General of Isle St. Jean (now Prince
Edward Island) and Susanna Turner. Lucy had been previously married, her first
husband was Capt. James Colledge.

d. Kent Hotel, Richibucto (Kent Co.) Tuesday 10th inst., Lestock P.W. DesBRISAY,
Esq., age 53. He represented Kent Co. in the House of Assembly for several years
but has lately resided in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
