Gevedon, Edna M. Age 94 native of Mills River, NC current resident of Knoxville, TN passed away Thursday Sept. 26th at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital (Knoxville).
She was preceded in death by husband Willis "Ray" Gevedon and daughter Edna Dale Anderson. Parents were Walter and Mary Cairnes. Brothers were Hubert, Olin, and Walter Lee Cairnes, all of Mills River. Survivors are sister Viola Allison and Sister-in-law Eva May Cairnes also from Mills River. Sister-in-law Grace Gevedon of Bradenton, FL. Son is Walter (Bill) Anderson and wife Jerrie of Knoxville, TN. Grandchildren are Billy Anderson and wife Melanie and their sons Jordan and Dawson (great grandchildren) of Knoxville. Holly Broom and husband Bo and their sons Jake and Rhys and daughter Edie (great grandchildren) of Decatur, GA. Edna was especially close to nieces Marilyn Gordon (Hendersonville) and Martha Shumaker (Mills River) and their families. She also dearly loved nephew Mark Allison and family as well as Michael and Jan Cairnes, Jerry Cairnes, Gary Lynn Cairnes and family. Edna lived a long wonderful life with her husband Ray. She was a devoted mother to her son Bill and was loved by everyone who knew her. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be accepted by Boylston Baptist Church Cemetery Funds : 10185 Boylston Highway, Mills River NC, 28759.
The family will receive friends this Saturday Sept 28th at 5:00PM, service at 6:00PM at Thos. Sheperd's Church Street Chapel 125 N.Church St. Hendersonville, NC. Burial will be Sunday Sept 29th at 1:00PM at Boylston Baptist Church Cemetery.
