William R. Matney

William R. Matney, 84, 2861 Knollwood Court, died late Wednesday, June 6, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Matney worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., from 1925 until he retired.
He was born Sept. 17, 1899, in a sod house near St. Francis in Cheyenne County, the son of William Brooks and Ida Jane Jones Matney. He lived in Topeka since 1931.
Mr. Matney was a member of a masonic lodge in Topeka.

He was married to Metta Schendler in 1930. She died in 1950. His second wife, Mrs. Leah Braden (sic) Matney, died in August 1983.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Velma Morris, Wray, Colo.; and a brother, Stanley Matney, Fort Collins, Colo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Mount Hope Mausoleum.
