"Mrs. Matney, 97, Dies in Hospital --- Mrs. Ida Jane Matney, 97, of Route 4, died early this morning in Poudre Valley Memorial Hospital. She had been ill for several months.
"Her husband, William Brooks Matney, died Dec. 23, 1947.
"The couple, following their marriage on Oct. 28, 1888, Ragan, Kan., traveled by covered wagon to Cheyenne County, Kan., where they were homesteaders.
"Mrs. Matney spent most of her life in Kansas, but recently had lived with her son, Stan Matney of Route 4.
"Besides her son, with whom she made her home, she is survived by two other sons, Raymond Matney of Topeka, Kan., Dr. J. N. Matney of Houston, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Velma Morris of Armel; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Van Dyke of Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. Lydia Nelson of Alma, Kan.; 15 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
"The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Clough Valley Baptist Church at St. Francis, Kan. The Rev. Dr. M. R. Siemens, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Fort Collins, will officiate. Burial will be in Clough Valley Cemetery."
