According to Helen Jacoby Dickes, in her 1959 history of the descendants of Josiah Williams and John Weatherington, Josiah served in the War of 1812 as a sergeant in Capt. Andrew Gill's company, 1st Regiment (McArthur's) Ohio Volunteers and Militia, serving 1 May 1812 till April 30, 1813. His parents were John and Rebecca Williams, and his two known siblings were George Washington Williams (buried in Obetz, OH), and John Williams (buried in Auglaize Co. OH). Josiah's tombstone in the Obetz cemetery is gone but Mrs. Dickes told me (in the 1970s) that he is buried beside his brother George and his in-laws John and Margaret Weatherington. Josiah's widow, Comfort Weatherington Williams, moved with their six children to Fayette Co., IL in about 1840, and she is buried there in the Pilcher Cemetery.
