Robert Bancroft, Long Van Tassell Resident, Dies

Robert L. Bancroft, 80, died early Friday morning at Natrona Memorial Hospital in Casper following a long illness.

Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Chapel in Lusk Monday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

Reverend James E. Davis officiated. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, organist, accompanied James E. Scott as he sang "Nearer My God To Thee" and "The Old Rugged Cross".

Honorary bearers were George Siebken, Andrew McMaster, Glen Riley and Lawrence Adams.

Casket bearers were Clarence West, Rex Shoults, Dale Miller, Robert W. Holmes, Joseph Adams and Jack McMaster.

Mr. Bancroft wss born January 7, 1887, in Omaha, Nebr., the son of Frank and Ella Bancroft. He married Bertha Deuel in Harrison, Nebr., September 18, 1917. He came to Wyoming in 1913 and operated a ranch near Van Tassell for many years. He and his wife operated the Van Tassell Post Office for 22 years. They retired in 1964, moving to Casper.

He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and served as lodge secretary for 25 years.

He is survived by his widow, Bertha, of Casper; a son, Charles, of Big Piney; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Maxine) Riley, of Las Vegas. Nev.; and Mrs. Pete (Donna) Owens, of Casper; a brother, David, of Superior, Wis. a sister, Mrs. J, Garretson, of Sioux City, Iowa and seven grandchildren. One daughter died previously.
