Musician. He was a singer-composer, sax and keyboard player. Credited with the invention of afro-beat, he was one of Africa's most controversial musicians. In 1978 he married simultaneously 27 women then divorced them altogether in a mass ceremony. He died of the AIDS virus in 1997.
