The following have not been verified as the children of David and Lucy Foshee:

Mary Ann Foshee Littlejohn. Mary Ann is the daughter of Noah Foshee and Frances Smith as per a petition dated 21 September 1872 included in the estate settlement papers of Noah Foshee.

Wiley Foshee (1800-1857) This is not the Wiley Foshee son of David Foshee. Wiley Foshee born ca 1806 and died ca 1875 in Texas is David Foshee’s son. He is living with his father in 1830 in Bibb County, Alabama and in 1840 David and Wiley both moved to Talladega, County, Alabama (per 1840 census) and were members of the Mount Zion Baptist Church there. Church records indicate David Foshee died there in 1844. Church records also indicate in April of 1845 “an application for letters of demission was made for Brother Wiley Foshee which was granted also for his wife”. Wiley and family moved to Texas and appear there on the 1850 Rusk County, Texas census. Wiley Foshee died between 1870 and 1880 and since his wife is buried in the Crims Chapel Cemetery in Rusk County, Texas it is assumed he is also buried there.

James Stewart Foshee (1792.1860) was born in North Carolina. According to my research David Foshee was from Edgefield County, South Carolina and moved from there to Alabama by 1818 and he was never in North Carolina. Research is needed on Foshees in Chatham County, North Carolina in 1790s and early 1800s.

Joseph B. Foshee (1802-1861) I have researched this line but did not found any evidence that links him to David Foshee.

John William Foshee (1797-1882) According to my research this John William Foshee descends from Charles Foshee of Abbeville County, South Carolina not David Foshee. I have some documentation on this line

Although a grave marker for David Foshee has not yet been found in the Hill Cemetery the belief that he is buried there is based on the following information.

According to minutes of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Talladega County, Alabama dated 23 May 1835 "After divine service opened the door for the reception of members. Received by letter Bro. David Foshee and his wife Lucy". Again minutes from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church dated "Saturday for the first Lord's Day in January 1844" state that "On a motion it was resolved unanimously by the church as it has pleased Almighty God to take from among us our much beloved Brother Foshee, a deacon of our body, he having left an affectionate wife to mourn her loss and too infirm to support herself and the Church feeling it to be their duty to see that our Sister be provided for have appointed Brother C. Hill and A. Lawler to see what may be necessary for her support and report the same to our Church by our next meeting."

History of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church (first called Hill Church and later becoming The First Baptist Church of Sylacauga) indicates the Mt. Zion Baptist Church was "located on the Old Fayetteville Road near the Hill Cemetery".

Since the Hill Cemetery was near where David Foshee lived and near the church he was attending when he died the assumption is he was probably buried there.

David Foshee was born in South Carolina about 1775 to Nathaniel Foshee. On 21 May 1814 in Edgefield County, South Carolina Nathaniel Foshee deeded land to "my beloved son David"

David married Lucy (maiden name unknown) sometime before 1800 and David is listed on the Edgefield County, South Carolina census on that date. In his household at that time the only child listed was one male under the age of 10.

According to church records David and Lucy Foshee were charter members (26 February 1814) of the Baptist Church of Christ at Bull Branch in Edgefield County, South Carolina. (This Church was later known as Phillippi Baptist Church). David and Lucy withdrew from the Bull Branch Church November 7, 1817.

Information from A History Of Mulberry Baptist Church 1818-1968 (Bibb County, Alabama) by Olysses H. Abrams "David Foshee was one of the first if not the very first who joined the Mulberry settlement before the days of 1820".David Foshee was one of the messengers sent from the Mulberry Baptist Church in 1820 to the Cahawba Association of Baptist Churches.

David Foshee is listed on the Bibb County, Alabama 1830 census. He purchased land in Talladega County, Alabama in 1835 and is listed there on the 1840 census.

David and Lucy Foshee were the parents of at least three children:

Nathaniel Foshee born 1791 in Edgefield County, South Carolina died between 1860 and 1870 in Natchitoches Parish., LA

Wiley Foshee born 1806 in Edgefield County, South Carolina died between 1870 and 1880 in Van Zandt County, Texas
