MRS. LAURA L. DOWLING, DEAD

The people of our town were sad to learn of the death of this good woman, though it was not unexpected. She had been sick for quite a while and a great sufferer, but she has had the sweetest care and attention from her children and the best medical skill of the country. It was God's call and her spirit passed to the great beyond. All of the family were present when the summons came and witnessed her death and her departure to the better world. She was fully resigned and ready to go. Life's pain and burdens were rolled off and she was greeted on the other shore by loved ones.

Sister Dowling was born April 20th, 1845, and was married to Rev. Angus Dowling on Nov. 7th 1865. There were born to them nine children, seven of whom are still living and occupying honorable places in life. They all manifest the good precepts and fine sentiments that were instilled into them by their illustrious father and sweet and precious mother. In the great work done by Brother Dowling as minister, Sister Dowling shared in all of the conflicts and burdens and proved always a most valuable companion and helpmate. She entered into his work with a spirit that made her most valuable to him in his life's work for his master.

She was a power for good in every community wherever she was located in this life and the good influence of christian character can only be revealed in eternity. Hers was a life of service along with her noble husband to do good among men for the honor and glory of their Lord and Saviour. Children, mother and father have left to you a noble heritage, rich in character and good deeds and you could do not better than walk in their foot steps. It is a sweet comfort to have such a mother and father and their beautiful lives.

She calls you to make her God your God. The sweet assurance that accompanied her must be ever sweet and consoling.
