Robert Able-bodied seaman on the Bounty; loyalist; went with Bligh; arrived safly in England. Tinkler was born at Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, in 1770, so he was seventeen years old when he joined the Bounty. He was the youngest brother-in-law of the sailing master, John Fryer.
Tinkler was present at the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801 as first lieutenant in the Isis while Fryer was sailing master in Admiral Parker's flagship London and Bligh commanded the Glatton. Tinkler was promoted to commander after the engagement.
