SNOW HILL — Grace Guettner, 93, of Snow Hill died Friday, April 27, 2012, at Harrison House Nursing Home.
Born in Parsonsburg on Nov. 29, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Lambert and Clara Adkins Powell.
Mrs. Guettner was a graduate of Salisbury's Wicomico High School. She attended Salisbury State Teachers College and graduated from Paynter Business School. She was employed by DuPont in Seaford for many years.
She was a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church where she was an organist, choir director and Sunday school teacher for many years until illness interfered. She was also organist and choir director for Christ United Methodist Church and was a member of the Mar-Zion Homemakers Club.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved traveling and gardening.
She is survived by a daughter, Claire Ann King and her husband, John, of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Rebecca and Johnny King and his fiancee, Lauren Leahy; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Andrew and Aubree; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Guettner; and sister, Margaret Powell Rayne and her husband, Paul Rayne.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Ken Elligson will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Henry Zollinhofer. Interment will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery in Parsonsburg.
