Samuel Luttrell Williams was born 27 Oct 1781 in Northumberland, Virginia, to Rawleigh Williams and Rebecca Luttrell. In the late 1790's, the family moved to Montgomery County, Kentucky, where he grew to manhood. He married Frances "Fanny" Cluke about 1811, and had at least nine children before she died in 1855. He was a Captain in the War of 1812, 5th Regiment on August 7, 1812.. He also took part in the Battle of the River Raisin. He represented Montgomery County in the Kentucky Senate several times between 1820 and 1844. He retired to his farm on Aaron's Run in northern Montgomery County, where he died on 3 Sep 1872. He and Fanny were founding members of Somerset Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on Somerset Lane.
