Creelsboro Post Office

Russell County News, May 18, 1977

A fire of unknown origin, destroyed the old building located in Creelsboro, and for many years was used as a post office there. The fire occurred at about 1:45 a.m. last Thursday when the Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department was called to the fire; however the blaze had engulfed the building and nothing could be saved.

The one story, weather boarded building was used for storage and belonged to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reeder.

The old landmark is estimated to be 100 years old, and was originally built for a drug store; and since had been used for a dentist office, a barber shop, a store, and for several years used for the Creelsboro Post Office. Mr. Ernest Miller served as postmaster for 27 years until the post office was discontinued on August 31, 1962.
