Beatrice Guess, age 77, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 12:36 a.m., on Saturday, December 24, 2011, in her home. She was born November 3, 1934, in Marble, Arkansas, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Dortha Almeta (Miller) Alley. Beatrice has lived in Lawrence County for 56 years and was a homemaker. On November 1, 1952, she married Clarence Guess in Marble, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1990.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remember by her three daughters, Dortha, Inas and Bonnie Guess all of Mt. Vernon; five sons, Darrell Guess of Cape Fair, Missouri, David Guess of Galena, Missouri, Steve Guess of Marionville, Missouri, Tony Guess of Aurora, Missouri and Nathan Guess of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Reta Todd of Clifty, Arkansas and Freta Dyke of Elkins, Arkansas; one brother, Dennie Alley of Mansfield, Missouri; 30 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her parents, two sons, Tommy and Lee Guess, one grandson, Seth Perryman, one sister, Edith Coatney and one brother, Raymond Alley also preceded her in death.
A funeral service under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011, in the Marble United Baptist Church in Marble, Arkansas. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery near Marble. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, in the funeral home chapel. Memorial donation may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
