Rock Musician. Founding and prominent member of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention. Born Euclid James Sherwood, his association with Zappa can be traced back to his high school years, while growing up in Southern California (Antelope Valley). Nicknamed "Motorhead" because of his per-occupation with cars, Sherwood was introduced to Frank through Zappa's brother which led to his participation with the early ensemble The Black-Outs. Initially an equipment manager with the Mothers, he added his instrumental talents (saxophone and background noises) to their groundbreaking debut album "Freak Out!" (1966) and was a part of their lineup until Zappa disbanded the group in 1969. Over the years, Sherwood remained active in the industry as a performer, often reuniting with Zappa ("You Are What You Is" 1981); he appeared in the film "200 Motels" (1971).
