Asturian Queen. Born the daughter of Garcia I Iñiguez, king of Pamplona and his wife Urraca. She married Alfonso the Great, King of Asturias, in 869, some three years after he came to the throne. The couple had at least six children, including some who ruled in their own rights after deposing their father, and dividing his kingdom, such as Garcia I of León, Ordoño I of Galacia, Fruela I, Ramiro, and Gonzalo, Abbot of Oviendo. Her husband was deposed about 910, and she died within two years. Her name has also been recorded as Xemena.
