Queen of Leon. Born the daughter of Ansur Fernandez and Gontroda Nuñez. She married Sancho I, also known as The Fat. Her husband's reign was turbulent, and he spent part of it in exile. They had at least two children including the future Ramiro III of Leon and Urraca. Sancho died in 966 when Ramiro was only five. Teresa was banished to a convent and his aunt, Elvira Ramirez, was named regent. In in 975, Elvira was forced to step down and Teresa returned to assumed the regency until her Ramiro achieved his majority. She died around age 60.
