On her way home from school at St. Agatha's (located then at 38th & Spring Garden Streets), Anna was struck by a car at 35th Street and Fairmount Avenue. She died at the Women's Medical Center of a fractured skull.
The undertaker was James F. Byrne at 3812 Spring Garden Street, and her Requiem Mass was held at St. Agatha's Church (now St. Agatha-St. James).
Her father, George Abel, was killed in an accident on February 7, 1931, not a month after Anna died. George, age 40, was struck by a falling planter at 34th & Pine Streets and died of a fractured skull.
