Charles T. Allin Jr., 89, died at Weeks Medical Center, after a three week battle with pneumonia.

Charles was the first of three sons of Charles T. Allin Sr. and Madelyn Gray. Raised in Groveton, he attended Groveton Schools, then worked for 35 years at the Groveton Paper Mill before retiring in 1983.

On December 19,1940 in Lunenburg, VT he married Harriet Rolfe Connary, daughter of Harland T. Connary and Harriet Stone. Later they divorced. Their children were Charlotte and Bruce.

On July 12, 1947 in Whitefield, NH he married Betty Joyce Smith, daughter of Leon E. Smith and Hazel Linnie Brown. Later they divorced.

On Feb 19, 1949 in Lunenburg, VT he again married Harriet Rolfe (Connary) Allin, his first wife. Although he was hospitalized Charles and Harriet celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary together with family last week.

Since 1957 Charles and his family have spent their summers at their camp on Maidstone Lake, which came to be known as "Allin's Alley". He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Groveton.

He is survived by his loving wife Harriet; his daughter Charlotte; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law Barbara Samson Allin.

Charles was predeceased by his son Bruce Allin in 1982 and two brothers, Stuart Allin in 2003, and Merle Allin.
