G. Graham Babylon, 93, of New Windsor, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011. Born Oct. 13, 1918, in Wakefield Valley, he was the son of the late Guy W. and Sarah Louise Graham Babylon. He was the husband of Mary Kathryn Warner Babylon, his wife of 58 years.

He attended New Windsor High School, class of 1935. In 1930 he established Babylon Vault Company in Wakefield Valley with his father and brother. On May 7, 1936, he enlisted in the Navy. He was a charter member and third president of the Carroll County Baseball Old Timers Association and past president of the Frederick Touchdown Club. He was a member of the National Concrete Burial Vault Association; former board member and past president of the Pennsylvania Burial Vault Association; member of Door to Virtue Masonic Lodge No. 46 of Westminster since 1944; charter member of Tall Cedars No. 132 of Frederick. He was a life member of Frederick Elks Club No. 684 and St. Paul's United Methodist Church in New Windsor. He was formerly active with the Union Bridge Lions Club for 25 years, and was a charter member and organizer of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association.

He formerly played baseball with Wakefield then was known as a softball pitcher with a number of Maryland and California teams. He played slow pitch softball as a senior in Arizona until the age of 80. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying all kinds of sports and attended a number of momentous professional sporting events, including "The Greatest Game Ever Played" in 1958. He also attended 12 consecutive World Series games with Bill Fritz.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Donna R. Babylon, of Westminster; grandsons Ben and Max Babylon; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Babylon, of California.

He was predeceased by a son, Guy G. Babylon; a brother, George E. Babylon; and sisters Ruth L. Koontz and Lena M. Buffington.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Windsor Station of the New Windsor Fire Company, 101 High St., New Windsor. followed by Masonic services by Door-to-Virtue Lodge. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood, with his pastor, the Rev. Helen Armiger, officiating.
