Son and collaborator of the Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky. He lived separately from his parents after 1917 in order not to be seen as privileged. He participated in work of Left Opposition since 1923. He accompanied his parents to exile, leaving his own family behind. Installed in Paris (France) since 1933, he published the Opposition Bulletin (monthly revue of the Bolsheviks-Leninists, in Russian) and "The Red Book on the Moscow Trial" in 1936. He was murdered in 1938 by a Stalinist agent during a surgical operation in a Parisian hospital. Every year at August 20th the French Trotskyites come to visit his tomb, to commemorate the murder of Trotsky.
