MRS. J. B. MARTIN DEAD.
Stricken With An Acute Attack of Bright's Disease While Visiting At Covington.
Covington, Ky., Jan. 25. --- [Special.] --- Mrs. Martha Yates Martin, wife of Judge J. B. Martin, of Owenton, Ky., died to-day at noon at the residence of her son, William C. Martin, of Wallace Place, where she was visiting when two weeks ago she was stricken with an acute attack of Bright's disease. She was born on February 19, 1828, in Stamping Ground, Scott county, and spent considerable of her early life in Sprinfield, Ill., in the family of her cousin, Richard Yates, afterward War Governor of that State. She was a woman of great strength of mind and character and in her youth of remarkable beauty. Besides her husband she leaves surviving children, Mrs. Attilla Cox, of Louisville; William C. Martin, Mrs. James W. Bryan, of this city, and John B. Martin, Jr., of Owenton.
The remains will be taken to Owenton to-morrow and the funeral will be on Friday at that place.
