Howard Dosch, 99 OCEANSIDE -- Howard Dosch, a 59-year resident of Oceanside, passed on Friday, July 29, 2011, just 4 1/2 months short of his 100th birthday, from pneumonia and congestive heart failure. He was born December 13, 1911 in Richland Center, Wis., tenth of twelve children, to Fred Dosch and Elma Carpenter. Howard received his BS and MPh degrees from UW/Madison. LCDR Dosch served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific as the skipper of a supply ship. He was a Math teacher at Oceanside, Carlsbad, and El Camino High Schools and Mira Costa and Palomar Colleges. He was predeceased by two wives and a girlfriend, Dorothy Thies, Betty Slinger and Maria Fielden. He is survived by two sisters, Louise Boode of Richland Center, Wis., and Carolyn Cooper of Mercer Island, Wash.; his daughter, Mollie of Oceanside; a step- daughter, Penny Breza, and her family; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Because Howard personally disliked attending funerals or memorial services, he requested that none be planned for him. He is interred in the Garden of the Last Supper section at Eternal Hills. No cards or flowers, please! Instead, please donate to the organization that eased him through his final hours: Silverado Hospice, 3750 Convoy St., Ste. 200, San Diego, Calif. 92111.
