Geographer. Born Pierre-François Eugčne Cortambert, he was a French librarian and geographer. He worked in the Map Division of the Bibliotheque national de France in Paris and was Secretary General of the Société de Géographie. Through the publication of his maps and serial works, he managed to get across a wide geographical contexts generality in 1862.
