JOHN CHARLES ABBEY, 57, of Reseda, Calif., formerly of Home, died Nov. 17, 1987, in the Kaiser Community Hospital, Reseda, Calif.

A son of Paul and Mildred Abbey, he was born April 21, 1930, at Saltsburg.

Mr. Abbey was a member of Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Reseda, Calif. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.

A public school teacher, he had taught in South Plainfield, N.J.; American Somoa; and Australia. Currently he had been a public works inspector for the city of Los Angeles, Calif.

Surviving are his parents; a sister, Nancy of Santa Cruz, Calif.; brothers: Edward of Tucson, Ariz.; Howard of Chambersville; and William of Honolulu, Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Wachowski Abbey.

A memorial mass was conducted on Nov. 19 at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Reseda, Calif. Interment was private.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in the Washington Presbyterian Church, Home.
