American Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was issued the award on September 11, 1897 for his actions as a corporal with Company H, 2nd Minnesota Infantry, US Army. His Medal of Honor citation reads: "For extraordinary heroism on 15 February 1863, in action at Nolensville, Tennessee. Corporal Wright was one of a detachment of 16 men who heroically defended a wagon train against the attack of 125 cavalry, repulsed the attack and saved the train."
