Son of Nathan Fish II (1778-?1830NY) and Esther (Greene) Fish, according to Fish Family in England and America. Nathan and Esther were married at Halifax,VT on Jul 29,1801.

Following Esther's death in 1817, Nathan went to Ellisburg,NY. (Greene, Frank L, Descendants of Joseph Greene of Westerly, R.I. 1894. p. 261). Esther was buried in Vermont in this same cemetery. Nathan and Esther had four children: Lucy (m.Osborn Barney), Esther, Samuel, and Edward.

Edward's 1857 death record states his parents to be Nathan and Lucy, which contradicts both Esther's 1817 death date and the Fish genealogy mentioned above. It is possible that Nathan Fish remarried again following Esther's death when Edward was 8 years old, to a woman named Lucy, but no conclusive proof can be found. A possible candidate for Nathan's second wife (if he remarried) is here.

Yet another source, his son's biography in History of Walworth, Wisconsin, calls his mother Susan Lamb.

Edward married, first, about 1832, Eunice Denison.

He married, second, on Nov 2,1841 at Greenfield,MA, Jane Duncan Barber.

Children(by first marriage): included Elverta Fish and Howard Edward Fish.

Children(by second marriage): Mary Jane Fish Pierce, Milo Robert Fish, and James H Fish.
