CLEBURNE, Tex. (AP) – R. L. Anderson, 81, father of Secretary of the Treasury Robert B. Anderson, died in a hospital Tuesday of injuries received in a traffic accident.

The elder Anderson, a dairyman who lived at Godley, 12 miles west of here, was injured in a 2-car collision at a highway intersection near Burleson Oct. 25.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Crosier – Pearson Funeral Home chapel at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Burial will be in Green Acres cemetery at Cleburne.

He suffered severe head injuries and had undergone brain surgery, His wife, who was with him at the time of the accident, was not injured.

The secretary of the treasury had flown here soon after the accident and was at the bedside of his father when the latter died.

Anderson was born at Alvarado, Tex., and lived all of his life in Johnson County. He was a member of the Methodist Church, past master of the Godley Masonic Lodge, a former mayor of Godley and had served for many years as a member of the Godley School Board.

In addition to the secretary of the treasury he is survived by his wife; two other sons, Wayne of Wichita Falls and Ray of Fort Worth; two daughters, Mrs. A. D. Smith of Godley and Mrs. Velma Pickens of Greenville, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Bob Jeffrey of Burleson, and Mrs. Lula Moore of Fort Worth; a brother, Dr. W. L. Anderson of Scranton, Tex.
