William "Bill" Gibson Booth was the son of Rev. Eugene Theodore Booth, Sr. and Lucy Gibson Booth of Cherokee County, GA.

On December 17, 1938, Bill Booth married Alice Chamlee in Cherokee County, GA (Cherokee County Marriages, Book K., p. 108). They had a daughter named Michael Ann Booth.

Mr. Booth received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia, a teaching degree from Mississippi Teachers College and Master of Education degree from Emory University. He was principal of Woodstock Elementary School for 37 years.

William Booth was a member of Woodstock Baptist Church in which he served as deacon and Sunday School Teacher there. He was also a mason and a member of the Woodstock Lion's Club.

Mr. Booth was a longtime member of the Dean Drug Store Group, going every morning for years. In 1997, he was a member of the Woodstock Centennial Commission. In 1997, he was awarded the Helmut E. Landsberg Award from the U.S. Weather Service for 60 years of volunteer service, collecting, measuring and reporting the rain fall daily to the weather service. In 2002, he was awarded the General Albert J. Myer award for 65 years of service. This was a rare award for long service to the U.S. Weather Service.

William Gibson Booth passed away, April 17, 2008 at age 99.

The memorial service was held on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel at 3 PM with the Rev. Thomas Sizemore officiating.
