Beverly Diane Gilliland Clulow of Topeka passed away Thursday October 8, 2020 in Carbondale, Kansas. She was 88 years old.
Diane was born February 23, 1932 in Agra, Kansas to Edwin James and Florence Faye (Dixon) Gilliland. She graduated from Phillipsburg HS in 1950 and later went on to graduate from Draughans School of Business in Tulsa, OK in 1965. Opportunities took her and her small family from Tulsa to San Antonio, TX before relocating to Topeka, where she worked and later retired from the Menninger Foundation in 1994.
Both daughters Julia and Cynthia were able to spend the last few days of her life with their mother.
She is survived by her daughters and their husbands; Julia and Robert Frost of Gilbert, AZ and Cynthia and Wade Savage of Bountiful, UT; along with eight grandchildren and their spouses (Adam & Karlee, David & Kelsey, R. Matthew & Millie, Crystal, Ariel & Ryan, Joshua & Becca, Carrissa & Nick) and ten great-grandchildren (Michael, Lucas, Jacob, Evelyn and Denae; Caden, Tessa and Zack, Becky, Katie).
Also surviving are sisters Roberta Lane of Larned, KS and Mary Anderson of Kennesaw, GA.
Besides her parents, preceding her in passing are her siblings Jeanne Marcher, Jim, Foster, David, Margaret Stockton, and Nancy Thixton.
Diane was extremely gifted in the art of embroidery and was involved in doing family genealogical research. One of her favorite things was to go for a Sunday drive to be out in nature or to walk through a garden. She was very knowledgeable about plants and flowers. Diane loved the English language and both studied and continued to research words and the use of them. In her earlier adult years, she sang with the Boston Avenue Methodist Church chancel choir in Tulsa, OK, including their work with the Tulsa Symphony. Along with the rest of the Gilliland family, she loved the singing of the Doxology, in all its many parts and harmony. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she enjoyed having spiritual discussions. Diane loved her family deeply.
A private family burial was held on Friday, October 16, 2000 in the Agra Cemetery, Agra, Kansas.
