Author. He had a career as a writer of mystery, horror and speculative fiction, being published in magazines such as "Amazing Stories", "Argosy" and "Wonder Stories". He geared many of his story stories towards young adults, and his mystery series "The Three Investigators" were highly successful. His stories were also featured in eleven "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" short story mystery and horror anthologies. In the late 1950s and early 1960s he was a television screenwriter for programs such as "The Twilight Zone" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents". His work in radio drama programming was twice honored with an "Edgar Award", which was given by the Mystery Writers of America for that category between 1946 and 1960. He passed away on Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1969.
