HOLDEN TOWNSHIP. FINSETH, A. K., farmer, sec. 32, P. 0. Eidsvold;, was born in Norway, April 22, 1836. Came to America in 1853, settling in Wis. in 1854. He moved to Green County, Wis., and in 1855 to this county. Was among the first actual settlers in Holden township. 1874 was elected to the State Senate, has filled many other offices of trust, and was one of the presidential electors-in 1876. Owns 335 acres of land, very valuable. Married Karen Pederson Hougen in 1864. Their children are-Knut M., Mary, Martha, Sissel and Clara. The family are members of the N. E. L. Church

Anders K. Finseth. Born in Hemsedal, Norway, April 22, 1836. Came to this county in 1855, engaging in farming in Holden. In 1864, married Karen Haugen. Nine children were born to this union: Knut A., Marie, Martha, Sissel, Clara, Amelia, Arthur, Carl and Walter. He died May 19, 1913. Served as county commissioner, state senator for several sessions and as presidential elector for Hayes in 1876. He was appointed dairy commissioner by Governor W. R. Merriam. A member of the church council of the Norwegian Lutheran synod. Staunch Republican in politics.


From the Rice County Journal, May 21, 1913:

A. K. Finseth, State Senator in 1874, 1876, 1878, 1886 and 1888, and State Daily and Food Commissioner under Governor Merriam in 1891 and 1892, died at his home in Kenyon last Monday night, May 19, of paralysis. He was 77 years old. Mr. Finseth was one of the pioneers of this section of Minnesota He was president of the Kenyon Citizen's State Bank from the date of its organization until a few years ago, when he retired from active work. He is survived by his wife and eight children.
