"Dr. Haynie Rowell, prominent Clay County physician, passed away at his home in Kearney Friday morning at 7:45 o'clock.

Dr. Rowell had been spending the winter in Mesa, Ariz., and returned home the evening before accompanied by Mrs. Rowell and his brother, Dr. Frank Rowell.

Born and reared in Clay County, Dr. Rowell had been actively associated with the growth of the county. He had a wide circle of friends in Kearney and the surrounding community to whom the news of his death will come as a shock. While he had not been in good health for several years, his condition did not become critical until recently. He and Mrs. Rowell had been spending the winter with relatives in Arizona, when his condition became such, it was thought advisable to return home.

Dr. Rowell, who was 70 years of age, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Della Rowell; one daughter, Miss Miriam Rowell, who teaches in Jefferson City, Mo.; four brothers, Joe Rowell of Lee's Summit, Dr. Frank Rowell of Mesa, Ariz., Albert Rowell of El Dorado, Ark., and J. S. Rowell of this city; and two sisters, Mrs. William Trimble and Mrs. Charles Shouse, both of this city." The Lathrop Optimist (Lathrop, Missouri), February 20, 1930
